Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art of Brazilian origin, focusing mainly on grappling and submission techniques, including chokes and joint locks.

BJJ teaches respect, discipline and perseverance. Practitioners learn to cope with failure, solve problems under pressure and work towards long-term goals, which can have positive applications in other areas of life.

our mission

More than a sport, is a lesson in life. It conveys respect, discipline and perseverance, the keys to success in many fields. By embracing these values, our school offers training that transcends mere combative practice.

Personal growth

Problem solving / Adaptability

Faced with the challenges of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, at the Atelier we learn to deal with failure and adapt under pressure. This ability to solve problems is essential in our changing world. At Afrobraz Jiu Jitsu, these skills are reinforced to enrich daily life.

The long-term goals of BJJ teach patience, determination and the importance of long-term vision. These qualities, fostered in our school, prepare our students to pursue excellence, not only in the sport, but also in their personal and professional ambitions.

Working Towards Excellence

Our Story

Francois KB, aka Buscapé, started Jiu-jitsu with the Brazilian Top Team under Fabio Holanda. As soon as he earned his blue belt, Leonardo Saggioro's presence in Montreal encouraged him to train hard and take part in competitions across Canada. After numerous international podiums, he was honored with his black belt in 2020 by his mentor, Leonardo "Cascāo" Saggioro.

Constantly seeking to evolve, Buscapé took part in numerous training camps at the Cantagalo Jiu-Jitsu social project in Rio de Janeiro, home to many world champions such as Douglas Rufino (Head Coach). He has forged a solid relationship with Douglas and established a partnership to support the latter's work. Buscapé is also the founder of the Afrobraz Project, an initiative aimed at supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the pursuit of their dreams.

Buscapé's Jiu-Jitsu teaching philosophy is influenced by his experience in Capoeira. He firmly believes in the power of sport as a tool for personal development, helping everyone to reveal their best side.
