more about AFROBRAZ PROJECT

The Afrobraz project aims to disseminate Afro and Brazilian culture in Quebec, and to develop initiatives with a social impact in Brazil, in Africa and Quebec. We are deeply convinced that we can impact people's lives through culture, art and sport. Since 2018, the project has enabled many people to discover capoeira and break out of their isolation during the covid19 crisis. It has also enabled young athletes from the favela of Cantagalo(Rio de Janeiro) to become multiple-time Brazilian Jiu-Jistu champions since 2019.

Our vision goes even further, with many beautiful things still to come...

"What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make."

Cantagalo Jiu Jitsu

Since 2017, Afrobraz project has been collaborating with the Canataglo Jiu Jitsu social project.

This collaboration essentially consists of financing the development of young athletes from the Cantagalo favela in Rio de Janeiro. As the latter have few financial resources, the aid provided by Afrobraz Project enables them to pay for registration fees for competitions, as well as national and international travel. What's more, the money raised can be used to help the families of young people in need, as was the case during the Covid crisis, with the purchase of around a hundred baskets of basic necessities for a community not receiving social assistance.

Here are just a few of the major titles we have obtained through our collaboration

  • 3 South American Champions 2021

  • 5 Brazilian National Champions 2022

  • 2 European Champion 2022

  • 2 World Champion 2022

  • 6 European Champion 2023

Afrobraz the brand

Equal opportunity is a utopia for some people, depending on their social and cultural origins. This fact was the driving force that inspired us to create our project to support future champions. We wanted to create a brand that would enable us to support these young people in their dreams.

Over and above quality, our brand is a statement for those who display it. It's about accepting that no action is too small when it comes to helping others. Profits from the sale of our articles enable us to support our partnership initiative with the Cantagalo Jiu Jitsu social project.

With the birth of Atelier Afrobraz, we plan to introduce scholarships as early as 2024.

The aim of these scholarships is to offer young people from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to learn capoeira or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Our ambition is to make these martial arts accessible to those who, for lack of means or opportunities, would not otherwise have been able to benefit from them, and thus enrich their personal development path thanks to the multiple advantages of these disciplines.

The founder introduced this project during his MBA and was honored with the Richter Fellowship, a distinction of excellence awarded to the project with the best social impact business model. This award has reinforced our confidence that we are on the right track.
